Security Factors Related to Retail Industries

With the rising crime scene, security issues loom larger than ever before. Retailers who have a lot of cash at hand are prone to the threats from anti-social acts like robbery and theft. The issues related to retail are as under.
Unarmed robbery
Unarmed robbery is an evil that affects the retail industry every day according to recent studies.
Shoplifting is growing up fast and often gets overlooked. Larger retailers have floor walkers, cameras, scanners and other surveillance tactics but small retailers have no such sophisticated devices installed.
Retail theft
It's not always the business holders who are at the receiving ends of security threats. Even the customers can be looted. This is indeed a smart kind of theft. Electronic cashless transactions are becoming more and more prevalent. A smart robber can change bank card readers to intercept credit card numbers and encoded data through a skimmer. Besides card skimming, there are other serious frauds prevalent and surprisingly carried out by the employees.
These kind of activities cause losses internally and deceive customers as well. Let us now know how it is done:

Under-Ringing: Cashier steals extra money by collecting the full amount of a listed product. It is done in a way that the cash registers reveal lesser value than the full retail value of the product.

Sweetheartening: It is accomplished by giving discounts to family and friends by cashiers without consent of the authorities.

Refund: an employee makes a false document comprising a fake name and address and makes it appear as if the customer has returned a product and takes the money by himself.

Voids: Cashier retains the customer's sales receipt. Then selects an item as a voided sale and takes the cash by himself making it appear as if the money has been returned to the customer.

Armed robbery
Armed robbery is one of the biggest threats to small businesses who have a lot of cash and not enough security at hand. Often the employees kneel down to the demands of the burglars and don't try battling it out. This causes huge losses.
Vandalism
Vandalism is a serious crime. Burglars, general public or any anti-society activity can cause malicious obliteration, injury, disfigurement, or damage of property to the small business holders like retailers.
There is a dire need to formulate home & retail security solutions. Strategies can be formulated to tackle all types of risks but not vandalism.
